Maintenance of metal constructions is of great importance to lengthen the lifespan. Especially in corrosive environments such as near seawater, corrosion can damage constructions rapidly. To combat this, metal constructions are coated, where it is important to apply this coating on a sufficiently clean surface and to renew the coating in time.
These techniques are for example used in:
- Process industry
HedoN has produced multiple products in the field of corrosion control. Both for the evaluation of the cleanliness of the surface to apply the coating, and to evaluate the state of the coating present.
HedoN has developed two products for the shipping and offshore industry that are used in corrosion control. The SSM (Soluble Salt Meter) is a product that serves to measure the percentage of various salts on a to be coated surface, in a calibrated manner. The SSM has a magnetic head with which it can easily be attached to ferromagnetic materials such as ship hulls, pipelines and other constructions.
For Ivium, HedoN has developed the MCF Cell, which is a head with which measurements can be conducted to test coatings which are attached to the to be tested surface magnetically. For more information see this PDF and the link to the productpage of the saltmeter underneath.
