Developing electronics is a challenge, but making sure that the product which the user accepts can also be produced in large quantities is a completely different challenge and a trade in itself. Besides the purchase of components and the logistics chain, if desired, it should also be possible to provide a proof of accurate fabrication for every product produced. HedoN develops its own product tests, with the purpose of evaluating a part of or the complete product. With a product test it is possible to verify whether the correct components are used, that the soldering and other connections are in order and that the processor can communicate via all interfaces on the PCB. And when a product is not approved, the test can provide an indication where the problem might be located.
Depending on a number of factors, among which the production quantities, more or less automation of the product test can be desirable.
HedoN has experience with the design and use of product tests for solely PCBs to complete products with volumes of 10 to 40.000 units per year.
HedoN has been developing product tests since the 80s. A few examples:
- The product test for the TWIM 15 (SKF). The to be tested product is comprised of 3 PCBs, for which a few product tests where designed and built. The test is optimized to be used without training and capable of testing quickly and well. The concept is operational for volumes in the order of 100 units or more per year.
- The product test for the Brewer (Kipp & Zonen). This product test is comprised of a specifically for Brewer designed measuring system that is connected to the product in a laboratory environment. All measurements can be executed in a simple manner, but no time was spent on automation. The concept is operational for volumes in the order of 10 units per year.
