Product testing for reliable quality

Product testing for reliable quality

At HedoN, we see developing high-quality electronics as an exciting challenge, but ensuring reliable production and consistent quality is equally important to us. Carefully sourcing components through a trusted supply chain forms the foundation of our approach. Additionally, we make sure that every product we manufacture undergoes thorough inspections to guarantee it is correctly produced.

HedoN develops its own production tests designed to evaluate both complete products and their individual components. These systems are also implemented at our production partners, allowing us to maintain quality assurance throughout the entire supply chain. Since the 1980s, we have been developing production tests and have extensive experience designing and using these tests — from testing single PCBs to complete products, suitable for production runs ranging from 10 units up to more than 30,000 units per year.

With a production test, we can verify, among other things, whether:

  • the correct electronic components have been used,
  • soldering and connections are proper,
  • the processor can communicate through all PCB interfaces,
  • all functional requirements are met, and
  • the test indicates the nature of any faults in case of failure.

Depending on factors such as production volume and test costs, the level of automation in a production test can vary. Furthermore, we employ various additional tests to ensure product quality and robustness, such as automated optical inspection (AOI), X-ray analysis, temperature and humidity endurance tests, vibration tests, and drop tests.

Examples of production tests

One example of a production test is for an induction heater, consisting of three PCBs and various mechanical parts, including a housing. Separate tests have been developed for the PCBs that can be performed quickly and efficiently without requiring additional training for the operator. This concept is suitable for production volumes of 100 units or more per year.

Another example concerns the production test for low volumes of PCBs. In this case, a special measurement system has been designed that is connected to the product in a laboratory environment. All measurements can be carried out easily without further automation. This concept is suitable for lower production volumes, with runs of around 10 units per year.
